About this scholarship
Eagle Scouts may be nominated for the American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship through their state American Legion department from November 1 through March 1 annually.
The national winner receives $10,000; three runner-ups receive $2,500 each. Four scholarships are awarded in total. Funds must be used within four years of high school graduation.
Nominees must be at least 15 years old and enrolled in high school at the time of selection. Scholarship funds are disbursed jointly to the student and an accredited U.S. trade school, college, or university upon enrollment.

- Note on each section: the screening committee will only consider information on the first page (or first two pages for the 1,000-word sections) if more pages are submitted.
- Nomination packet must be submitted through the applicant's state American Legion department, not directly to national headquarters.
- Scholarship funds must be used within four years of high school graduation.
