About this scholarship
Graduating M.D. students at UBC with high academic standing who plan to travel outside British Columbia within the first year after graduation may be considered.
Two travel awards totalling $15,150, about $7,575 per recipient, are offered through an endowment established by Drs. Sydney and Constance Friedman.
Applicants submit a short outline of 500 words or less describing their travel plans; unusual requests need not be excluded. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine.
The award gives recipients the opportunity to see and experience the culture of another part of the world, in the hope that the experience builds a more global perspective for patient care.
