About this scholarship
Metro-Detroit high school seniors who are U.S. citizens with at least a 2.75 GPA and acceptance to an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution may apply for the Dream Big Scholarship from Detroit Speaks.
Two $1,000 awards are granted. Selection weighs educational achievement, community involvement, leadership, financial need (EFC), and essay responses scored by the committee. Top candidates are interviewed by phone or Zoom.
Incomplete applications and essays below the minimum word count are not reviewed. Teacher or counselor recommendation letters are favorable but not required. Funds may be used for tuition, supplies, books, and other college preparation costs.
