About this scholarship
Graduating high school seniors in Iowa, Nebraska, or Colorado with at least a 2.0 GPA and community or extracurricular involvement who plan to pursue a welding or other trades-related degree at a local community or technical college may apply for the Drake-Williams Steel Trade Scholarship.
Recipients receive $2,500 in cash and tuition support plus an employment opportunity at Drake-Williams Steel. To renew, recipients must maintain part-time employment at DWS in good standing and a 2.0 or higher GPA.
Email scholarship@dwsteel.com with the area application form by March 13 (December 5 for early graduates). Drake-Williams Steel supports youth in the Denver and Omaha/Council Bluffs areas pursuing welding careers.

- Open to graduating high school seniors enrolled at a high school in Nebraska/Iowa (Omaha form) or Colorado (Denver form), graduating Winter 2025/Spring 2026
- Must plan to pursue an approved trades program (e.g., Welding, Electro-mechanical Maintenance, Machining, Drafting) at a local community or technical college starting Summer/Fall 2026
- Minimum 2.0 GPA ('C' average)
- Official copy of high school transcripts required at time of application
- Two scholarship recommendation forms required (from teachers, school administrators, employers, or community members; may not be a relative)
- Must demonstrate community and/or extra-curricular involvement
- Must maintain at least part-time employment at Drake-Williams Steel while in the program (employment is at-will)
- All submissions must be typed and emailed to scholarship@dwsteel.com
- Deadlines: December 5, 2025 (early graduates) or March 13, 2026 by 5 p.m. (spring graduates)
