Dr. Rimas Pakalnis Memorial Research Prize in Rock Mechanics

Graduate students studying Mining Engineering at UBC Vancouver whose research performance or publication record are expected to have a significant impact on the field of rock mechanics may be nominated for this prize.

Prizes of varying amounts are endowed in memory of Dr. Rimas Pakalnis (1956-2018), a Professor Emeritus in the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering and a highly respected proponent of Empirical Mine Design. No separate application is required; the institute makes recommendations.
