About this scholarship

Bachelor of Science students in Applied Biology at UBC Vancouver majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Environment who demonstrate leadership in sustainability, climate action or food security are eligible for this award. Awards totalling $2,600 are made available through an endowment established by Dr. Parmjit Bains and Dr. Satwinder Bains.

There is no separate application. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.

Parm and Satwinder purchased a blueberry farm in Abbotsford in 1989 and co-founded Westberry Farms in 1997. Parm chaired the Faculty of Land and Food Systems Advisory Board from 2014 to 2024, and Satwinder directs the South Asian Studies Institute at the University of the Fraser Valley.
