About this scholarship

Outstanding women in their first year of the UBC Island Medical Program may be considered. Financial need may be considered.

Renewable awards totalling $5,000 are available annually through a family gift held at the University of Victoria in memory of Dr. Lindsay McNiven Lawson (1946-2022). Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years of study.

Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine. There is no separate student application.

Dr. Lawson graduated from McGill with a medical degree and the Wood Gold Medal, then spent 33 years in respiratory medicine at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver.
