About this scholarship
Outstanding first- and second-year UBC Vancouver graduate students studying life sciences and working in a research laboratory in the Faculty of Science may be considered for this scholarship, with preference for female students. Life sciences includes biochemistry, biology, cell biology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, and zoology.
The award amount varies. Scholarships are funded through an endowment established in honour of Dr. Linda Matsuuchi (A.B., M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.).
Recipients are recommended by the relevant graduate program in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
During her tenure at UBC in the Department of Zoology, Dr. Matsuuchi invested in the development of thousands of students as a role model and mentor. She received a Faculty of Science Achievement Award in 2007 in recognition of her contributions to the faculty.
