About this scholarship
Students entering the UBC M.D. program who identify as Black may be nominated for this entrance award, with preference given to students entering through the Faculty of Medicine Black Student M.D. Admissions Pathway and to students who demonstrate financial need.
Entrance awards totalling $1,850 come from an endowment established by Dr. Kwadwo Kojo Asante (B.Sc. 1958, M.B.Ch.B.). No separate application is required; the Faculty of Medicine makes recommendations.
Dr. Asante is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and helped open the Asante Centre for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder services in British Columbia.
