Eligible applicants include undergraduate students in the first semester of fourth year and graduate students who have not yet completed their degree. Eligibility must be confirmed in the academic letter of recommendation.

The award is $5,000 for education-related expenses such as tuition, books, and school materials (up to $4,500), plus travel support ($500) to attend the Child Rights Academic Network conference in Ottawa when possible.

Apply by email with a single PDF including a research or advocacy project description (or undergraduate honours/capstone plan), a children's-rights statement, a CV, and an academic reference letter. The awards honour Dr. Joy Calkin and build on the Hon. Landon Pearson's children's rights advocacy, with funding from the Muttart Family Foundation.
