About this scholarship
M.D. students at UBC Vancouver who demonstrate financial need and an interest in pediatrics may be considered for these awards. Preference is given to fourth-year students who have matched to a pediatric residency.
Awards totalling $2,100 are available from an endowment established in memory of Dr. John F. McCreary, OC (1910-1979) by his son. The Faculty of Medicine recommends recipients.
Dr. McCreary completed medical training at the University of Toronto, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, and became the inaugural Head of the Department of Pediatrics at UBC in 1951 before serving as Dean of Medicine from 1959 to 1972.
