About this scholarship
Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who are Alberta residents enrolled full-time in an undergraduate, professional, graduate, apprenticeship, diploma, or certificate program at a publicly funded Alberta post-secondary institution in satisfactory academic standing may apply.
One hundred awards of $2,000 recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially related to disability, and initiative to improve conditions for others.
Submit a resume highlighting leadership and community involvement, a related letter of reference, and an essay up to 1,000 words. Selection considers each student's leadership role and contributions. Application deadlines vary by school.
The scholarship honors Dr. Gary McPherson, an advocate for people with disabilities and member of the Order of Canada.
