About this scholarship
For outstanding UBC Vancouver doctoral students accepted into the Public Scholars Initiative whose interdisciplinary scholarship is anticipated to address complex challenges facing the public.
Awards totalling $4,000 are made available annually through a gift; individual award values vary.
Candidates apply through the Public Scholars Initiative application process. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Public Scholars Initiative in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
Dr. Dan Small (B.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. 2003) is a medical anthropologist and UBC research associate who co-founded Insite, North America's first sanctioned supervised-injection facility.
