About this scholarship
New Jersey residents enrolled in the Landscape and Horticulture Technology program at County College of Morris (CCM) with at least a 3.0 GPA may apply for the Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship through Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum.
One or more recipients share scholarship funding of up to $3,000 total. Apply through CCM's Department of Landscape and Horticulture Technology using the sponsor's rules and application form.
The scholarship was established in 1979 to honor Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn, whose horticultural expertise supported the Arboretum in its early years. It is funded annually through the Friends' Blackburn Scholarship Event.

- Academic average equivalent of 3.0 GPA or higher
- Submit a certified copy of all college transcripts
- Include TWO letters of recommendation from college professors and ONE letter of recommendation from someone with whom you have worked in your community
- May include up to five (5) photos in support of the application
- Applications must be postmarked by April 10, 2026 (mailed to the Blackburn Scholarship Committee, PO Box 2267, Morristown, NJ)
- Winners must be able to submit a brief article with a picture to the Friends' quarterly newsletter
