Douglas E. Rickson Award in Forestry

Open to undergraduate students studying forest resource management or forest operations in the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Stewardship at UBC Vancouver who are in good academic standing. Financial need may be considered.

Award amounts vary. Annual awards are funded by a gift from Suyin Lee in memory of Douglas E. Rickson (1933–2022).

There is no separate student application. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry.

Doug Rickson earned a B.Sc. in Forestry from UBC in 1956 and had a long career with the B.C. Forest Service and Canfor, eventually serving as Vice-President and Chief Forester.
