About this scholarship

Outstanding UBC Vancouver graduate students in the Faculty of Education whose research focuses on creating education policy and curriculum and educating educators in SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity)-inclusive education may be considered for this scholarship.

The award amount varies. Scholarships are funded through a gift from Robert Quartermain in honour of Dean Blye Frank.

Recipients are recommended by the Faculty of Education in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Dean Frank (B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D.) served as Professor and Head of the Division of Medical Education at Dalhousie University before joining UBC as Dean of the Faculty of Education in 2011. His research focuses on equity, diversity, and inclusion in education and healthcare, and he played a vital role in developing the Faculty of Education's SOGI Inclusive Education Initiative.
