About this scholarship
Diploma, undergraduate, and graduate students at the UBC Vancouver School of Music who are pursuing a degree in opera and have demonstrated outstanding vocal abilities in good academic standing may be nominated.
Awards are drawn from a $20,000 endowment established by the David Spencer Endowment Encouragement Fund in memory of David Spencer (1915-1998). Per-recipient amounts are not fixed. Recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Head of the Opera Division; for graduate students, the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is consulted. There is no separate student application.
David Spencer (B.A. 1938) was a donor and advisor to Vancouver Opera and other performing arts organizations and established a Canadian charity to support the performing arts.
