David Hoar and Noreen Rudd Scholarship in Biochemistry

For outstanding undergraduate and graduate First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students of Canada in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UBC Vancouver, with preference for students from areas in British Columbia outside the Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria.

Scholarship amounts vary. David Hoar (B.Sc. 1966, Ph.D.) and Noreen Rudd (M.D. 1965) established the endowment. David is a geneticist who testified about DNA evidence in Canadian court; Noreen is a pediatrician and medical geneticist who helped develop prenatal testing in Canada.

The department recommends recipients; graduate selections involve the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. No separate application.
