About this scholarship

Graduate students at UBC Vancouver who are beyond their first year of study and whose research focuses on oceanography are eligible for these awards. Awards totalling $1,950 are distributed among recipients; individual award amounts vary. Candidates are evaluated on academic and research excellence, outstanding originality, and dedication to the field through service and leadership. There is no student application; awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The awards are funded through an endowment established by David Green (B.Eng., Ph.D. 1976), founder of several environmental consulting and technology companies specializing in solar and LED technologies.
