About this scholarship
U.S. citizens in financial need who are accepted into or enrolled in an accredited program in occupational therapy, physical therapy, art therapy, or music therapy may apply for the DAR Occupational/Physical Therapy Scholarship.
Four $5,000 scholarships are awarded to students pursuing therapeutic careers in accredited professional programs.
Apply through the DAR online scholarship portal by January 31. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required, though local chapters may help with applications.

What else to submit
- Personal statement of 1,000 words or less describing career objectives
- Recent high school, college, and/or graduate transcripts
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- One-page list of extracurricular activities, honors, and achievements
- Two to four non-relative recommendation letters written within the last year
- Program acceptance letter or transcript showing enrollment
- Financial need information
- Recent high school and/or college/graduate transcripts (unofficial acceptable initially; official required if selected)
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (photocopy of birth certificate, naturalization papers, or U.S. Passport info page, with photos covered and SSN blacked out)
- A one-page document listing extra-curricular activities, honors, and achievements (one side of 8.5x11 paper, must include applicant's name)
- Two to four letters of recommendation (no relatives), written within the last year and dated
- A letter of acceptance into the program OR a transcript noting the applicant is enrolled in the program
- Financial need information
- Must have been accepted to or be attending an accredited school of occupational or physical therapy (including art or music therapy)
- DAR chapter sponsorship is not required, though local chapters may assist with applications.
