About this scholarship

Students accepted into or actively pursuing an accredited medical doctor degree at an approved medical school, college, or university may apply for the DAR Alice W. Rooke Scholarship. Pre-med, veterinary, and physician assistant programs are not eligible.

One $5,000 scholarship is awarded. The award is not automatically renewable, but recipients may reapply for up to four years.

Apply through the DAR online scholarship portal by January 31. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required. The scholarship is offered by the Daughters of the American Revolution to support students on the path to becoming physicians.

  • List of extra-curricular activities, honors received, and scholastic achievements (one side of an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper)
  • Photocopy of U.S. citizenship proof (birth certificate, naturalization papers, or U.S. Passport information page)
  • All submitted information must be typed or computer generated (no handwritten documents; no personal photographs)
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen attending or planning to attend an accredited U.S. college/university
  • Scholarship-specific: accepted into or pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor (no pre-med, veterinarian, or physician assistant)
  • Apply via DAR online portal between November 1 and January 31 (11:59 pm Hawaii Time)
  • All submitted information must be typed or computer generated; no handwritten documents or personal photographs.
