About this scholarship
Chinese students who are first-generation in the U.S. or born overseas may apply for the Cynthia H. Kuo Scholarship through Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or current college students with at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated financial need, and two years of active involvement in Christian faith or a Christian youth group while planning full-time enrollment at a four-year U.S. college.
Awards are up to $5,000. The number of recipients varies each year.

- Official high school transcript(s) for the last two years.
- Two to three letters of reference, including one from a teacher or academic advisor and one from a Christian church leader.
- Financial-need evidence: FAFSA Student Aid Report or applicable tax return.
- Signed and dated personal statement of 500 to 850 words.
- 2-3 letters of reference: one from a teacher or academic advisor, one from a Christian church leader (youth pastor/youth group counselor); must be on school or company letterhead, signed and dated
