About this scholarship

Science and engineering graduate students whose thesis or major project research is relevant to contaminated-site assessment and remediation. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program with research completion expected in the following calendar year, have a clearly defined research project, and must not have received this scholarship before. Preference goes to students beginning their work rather than completing it.

Up to three awards annually: two at $5,000 each and one Mike Macfarlane Memorial Scholarship at $7,000 for outstanding innovative research.

The Mike Macfarlane Memorial Scholarship honours the former Director of site remediation at the Ministry of Environment.
