About this scholarship
Women of color who are permanent residents of Contra Costa County and enrolled at accredited nonprofit colleges or universities in two- or four-year programs may apply for Contra Costa NOW scholarships.
Two $1,000 awards are granted to applicants who demonstrate community activism and leadership. Submit the application form, official transcript, digital photo, letter of recommendation, and an essay on community activism to the chapter email. Applicants need at least one completed semester and a minimum 2.75 GPA.
Contra Costa NOW, a National Organization for Women chapter, earmarks these awards to support and uplift women of color pursuing higher education.

- Enrollment in or transfer to an accredited non-profit college or university for Fall 2026
- GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Copy of official transcript from most recent college or university
- Digital photo
- Name and address of academic institution to be attended in Fall 2026
- One letter of recommendation from someone who can assess your academic and/or personal achievements and community activism (e.g., professor, teacher, mentor, organization member)
