About this scholarship

Georgia high school seniors or GED graduates who are U.S. and Georgia citizens seeking an undergraduate degree at an accredited Georgia college may apply for Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia scholarships.

Four $1,000 awards are granted based on essay quality. Submit a 1,000-word typed essay interviewing a county constitutional officer, proof of Georgia residency, a letter of acceptance or enrollment, and the application by email. Essays must follow specified formatting requirements.

Each year COAG reviews applications and rates essays anonymously to select recipients.

  • Acceptance or enrollment letter from an accredited Georgia institution
  • Proof of Georgia residency, such as a Georgia driver's license or state ID
  • Essay must be exactly 1,000 words
  • Essay must be typed/computer generated, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font, on 8 1/2 x 11 unlined white paper, in English (handwritten or other formats disqualified)
  • Essay must include a title page
  • Essay must NOT reference the applicant's name, city/town/county of residence, or high school attended (may reference an office but not names of elected officials or the county)
  • Applicant must interview a county constitutional officer (Clerk of Superior Court, Probate Judge, Sheriff, or Tax Commissioner) in person, by phone, or virtually
  • Must be a Georgia high school senior graduating spring 2026 (or qualifying GED holder)
  • Must seek an undergraduate degree at an accredited Georgia institution; submit acceptance/enrollment letter
  • Must provide Georgia residency proof (GA Driver's License or state ID)
  • Submit via email to coagdirector@gmail.com with subject line '2026 COAG SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSION' by midnight March 13, 2026
  • Essay must be double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman, on 8.5-by-11-inch unlined white paper, and in English.
  • Essay must not identify the applicant, residence locality, high school, elected official, or county.
  • Email subject line must be '2026 COAG SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSION'.
