About this scholarship
Incoming first-year College of Wooster students who apply Early Decision or Early Action and audition in acting, directing, playwriting, design and technology, stage management, or dance may compete for Theatre and Dance Scholarships. Transfer students are not eligible.
Awards range from $2,000 to $8,000 per year. Recipients need not major in theatre or dance but must complete 45 hours of departmental participation each semester.

- Audition or portfolio in chosen focus area (Acting, Dance, Design & Technology, Directing, Playwriting, or Stage Management), in person or via virtual/video option
- Acting: two contrasting memorized monologues (characters under 25), 2-minute timed presentation
- Dance: 1-3 minutes of dance/movement in style of choice plus resume
- Design & Technology: digital theatre portfolio plus faculty interview
- Directing: written concept and analysis of August Wilson's Fences or Quiara Alegria Hudes' Water by the Spoonful, plus faculty interview
- Playwriting: digital writing samples plus faculty interview
- Stage Management: prompt book samples / digital work plus faculty interview
- Transfer students are not eligible.
- Recipients must complete 45 hours of departmental participation each semester.
