About this scholarship
The California Indian Law Association awards multiple scholarships, recently ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, to current Native American and Alaska Native law students to help with law school expenses. Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. law school (incoming 1Ls are encouraged to apply in some cycles), and preference is given to applicants whose materials demonstrate alignment with CILA's mission of supporting the California Indian law community.
The application asks for a personal statement, resume, and transcript, submitted through an online form on the CILA website.
CILA has run law student scholarship cycles every year since 2019, often twice a year; the 2026 spring cycle was due March 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific, with summer cycles in past years due July 31.
