About this scholarship

Massachusetts residents in 10th or 11th grade who have overcome major adversity and demonstrate academic promise must be nominated by a school or agency for the Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship.

Award amounts vary and are based on educational costs including tuition, room, board, required fees, books, and transportation. Applicants need a 2.5 GPA, must show difficult personal circumstances and financial need, and plan to attend college in Massachusetts.

Students cannot apply without a nomination. Applications open December 1 through the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance.
