About this scholarship

Open to First Nations, Inuit, or Métis students of Canada at UBC Vancouver who have previously received a Centennial Scholars award in each of their four years of study and need financial assistance to complete an extended degree. Recipients must be academically qualified and would not be able to attend without financial assistance. Consideration is also given to leadership, community service, and extracurricular achievement. Recipients can receive this award only once during their studies.

Award amounts vary. One-time awards are funded by an endowment from the estate of Bernard W. Hoeschen (1940–2020).

There is no separate student application. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Centennial Scholars Entrance Award Committee in consultation with the Vice-President, Students Office.
