About this scholarship

Full-time graduate students in research training at a Canadian university leading to a Ph.D. or combined health-professional Ph.D. program, whose proposed research aligns with Canadian Blood Services priorities, may apply for the Canadian Blood Services Graduate Fellowship Program. Canadians and citizens of other countries are eligible. Applicants may not hold another competitive stipend at the same time. Master's trainees may be considered only when direct Ph.D. entry is unavailable and they intend to transfer; successful awardees must transfer to a Ph.D. program or complete the Master's before the fellowship starts. The primary academic supervisor must be affiliated with a Canadian academic institution and host the trainee for 2-4 years.

The fellowship provides $25,000 per year plus a $1,000 annual travel allowance, for up to four years with mid-term renewal. Applications are peer-reviewed on project relevance, applicant qualifications, and research merit.
