About this scholarship
Dependents and spouses of California peace officers, firefighters, or corrections employees killed or 100% disabled in the line of duty may receive need-based educational grants through the Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant Program. Award amounts vary based on financial need, up to the Cal Grant amount or remaining unmet need.
Submit a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application and an annual LEPD application between July 1 and June 30. Applicants must attend a Cal Grant-eligible school and meet Cal Grant income and asset ceilings.
The program provides educational support to families of public safety personnel who sacrificed in service to California.

- Documentation/police report showing the death or total disability was caused by external violence or physical force in the line of duty (peace/law enforcement officer); or caused by direct action of a
- If applicable, copy of the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board findings or other evidence the fatality/disabling accident was compensable under Labor Code Division 4 or 4.5
