About this scholarship

Undergraduate or graduate students at a four-year U.S. college or university pursuing a career in education may apply for the Brown MAE Foundation Education Scholarship. Applicants from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, including Black/African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latin American, Asian, and Pacific Islander communities, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants need a minimum 2.5 GPA. Submit a legible application form, official sealed transcript, three sealed recommendation letters on official letterhead, and a typed essay of three or more double-spaced pages. The complete application packet must be received by the deadline.

Award amounts vary. The foundation supports future educators from underrepresented backgrounds.

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale
  • Official college/university transcript in a sealed envelope (unofficial not accepted)
  • Three letters of recommendation (typed, dated, on letterhead, signed, sealed; not from family members)
  • Essay must be at least 3 typed, double-spaced pages
  • Application must be MAILED (no fax, email, or signature-required delivery); received (not postmarked) by 4/30/2026
  • Essay scores up to 65 of 100 points in the grading matrix
  • Application must be received, not merely postmarked, by the deadline.
