About this scholarship
Accomplished instrumentalists and vocalists applying to Brandeis University may be selected for the Leonard Bernstein Fellowship, a highly selective chamber music program within the music department.
Fellows receive a renewable scholarship for up to eight semesters, free private lessons, elite ensemble coaching, and additional performance opportunities. Award amounts vary.
Indicate interest on the Brandeis application supplement and submit a Slideroom audition by the Early Decision, Early Action, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision deadline. Scholars must declare a music major or minor.

- Violinists: two-three solo violin and/or chamber recordings; Pianists: recordings of three works in varying styles; Vocalists: recordings of three works in varying styles and languages
- Must apply for undergraduate admission to Brandeis by the relevant deadline (ED I/EA: Nov 3; ED II: Jan 15; RD: Feb 1)
- Auditions evaluated by Brandeis music faculty alongside admissions review; scholars notified at time of admission
- To retain status: maintain participation/performance in program ensembles and declare a music major or minor
- Applicants must apply for undergraduate admission by the applicable Early Decision, Early Action, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision deadline.
- To retain fellowship status, participate and perform in program ensembles and declare a music major or minor.
- Fellowship selection is highly selective and auditions are evaluated by Brandeis music faculty with the admissions review.
