York University undergraduate students may be considered annually for the Benarroch-Hazan Essay Prize in Sephardic Studies for an outstanding essay on a Sephardic topic written in any course.

- An outstanding essay on a Sephardic topic written in any York University course.
- A copy of the essay, with the professor's name and course, submitted to the program coordinator.
- Must be a current York University student (award administered by the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies / Department of Humanities)
- The submitted essay must be on a Sephardic topic and must have been written for any York University course
- Submission is course-essay-based: submit a copy of the essay along with the name of the professor and the course to the program coordinator (per directory/Centre guidance)
- No separate application is typically required; submission guidance indicates providing the course essay to the program coordinator.
