About this scholarship
Athabasca University undergraduate students may apply through the Student Awards System for the Barbara Roberts Memorial Award.
One $1,000 award recognizes outstanding written work (2,500 to 7,500 words) on women, gender, and feminism from a graded AU course in the prior award year. One submission per student per year. Apply by May 31.

- Existing graded AU course essay of 2,500 to 7,500 words, excluding footnotes and bibliography
- Student Work Product Use Authorization form after acceptance
- Submit an existing essay completed as part of an AU undergraduate course within the previous award year that has been graded
- Essay must be a minimum of 2,500 words and a maximum of 7,500 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography)
- Essay must address topics related to women, gender, and feminism; author addresses the diversity of gendered experience and applies intersectional feminist analysis
- Must be a current Athabasca University undergraduate program student
- Annual application deadline is May 31; application accessed via the Student Awards System
- One submission per student per year; award may be received only once
- Recipients must complete the Student Work Product Use Authorization form after acceptance
- The application asks the applicant to explain candidacy and intended use of funding.
