About this scholarship
Open to a PhD candidate whose doctoral dissertation on a Canadian topic was defended at York University in the calendar year and best advances knowledge of Canada. Special attention goes to work that transcends disciplinary boundaries and shows innovation in thought or methodology. Comparative studies are eligible.
One annual prize of $500. The winner is also nominated for the Canadian Studies Network dissertation prize. Graduate programme directors submit one nomination each to robarts@yorku.ca by June 5, with an electronic copy of the dissertation, the nominee's CV, York student number, and current email.
Offered by the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies in memory of Barbara Godard, a former colleague who made substantial contributions to the study of Canada.
