About this scholarship
Worthy applicants from academic institutions who will attend Texas institutions of higher education, including community colleges, universities, and trade schools, may apply. No Masonic connection is required, and selection does not consider race, creed, religion, color, sex, or national origin.
Austin Lodge No. 12 awards three scholarships of $6,000 each, funded from the Ziller Scholarship Endowment. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other legitimate school expenses.
Complete the written application and submit it postmarked by March 31.

- One essay of no more than 500 words, choosing one of the two provided topics
- Section VIII Essay: choose 1 of the 2 topics, brief essay of no more than 500 words (the two prompts are the two topic choices, each capped at 500 words)
- Optional special-circumstances statement: 'Are there any special circumstances you have experienced or are currently facing that you would like to disclose? Please explain in no more than 400 words.'
- Section V Extracurricular Activities: describe activities and leadership roles (no word limit stated)
- Section VI Community Service: describe volunteer service and any leadership roles (no word limit stated)
- 1 to 2 reference letters, no longer than 300 words each; academic, work, or personal, but not immediate family
- Current transcript or latest report card required (application incomplete without it)
- Eligibility: graduate high school before Fall 2026 OR be enrolled at an accredited Texas higher-ed institution (community college, university, or trade school); open regardless of Masonic affiliation
