For J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC Vancouver who have made significant contributions to feminism and the law, for instance through academic achievement, volunteer work, community activism, or work with a feminist organization.
Awards endowed in memory of Auriol Gurner Young are offered through the Centre for Feminist Legal Studies. Award amounts vary.
Nominations or applications are submitted by email to awards@allard.ubc.ca with a letter explaining the candidate's contributions to feminism and law, along with the candidate's resume. Current J.D. students who apply for the Marlee Kline Essay Prize are automatically considered for this award.
The award honours Auriol Gurner Young, who began her university education in her 50s, graduated with first class honours in 1983, and died in 2005.
