August Larson Memorial Prize in South Asian Studies

Open to first- or second-year UBC Vancouver students who write the best course essay on South Asian history or culture.

The award is a $1,050 prize. The Head of the Department of Asian Studies recommends the winner. Instructors in anthropology, Asian studies, history, political science, religious studies, sociology, or other departments may nominate candidates, or students may submit essays directly.

Alice Larson and Joanna Larson Lehmann endowed this prize in memory of August Larson, who had a lifelong interest in Asian history and culture.
