About this scholarship
ABET-accredited U.S. academic institutions may submit graduate-level research proposals in nondestructive testing (NDT) for this fellowship. Each award provides up to $20,000 to fund postgraduate M.S. or Ph.D. research, with up to five fellowships selected annually based on merit and the number of submissions. The application is a university research proposal outlining the planned graduate study and how the institution will manage the fellowship. ASNT membership is not required.

- Research proposal of no more than 20 one-sided pages, including abstract and detailed research project
- Title page with school, faculty, student, contact, and projected study details
- Program-of-study description with catalog course descriptions
- Research facilities, equipment, and resources description
- Project budget specifying fellowship-fund use
- Background information or resume for faculty advisor(s) and student
- The proposal, with all supporting materials, should not exceed 20 one-sided pages
- Title page with title, school name, faculty member(s) names, student name(s), mailing address, telephone, email, anticipated start date, estimated completion date, and disbursement recipient
- Program of Study: brief description of the student's actual or typical program of study with catalog course descriptions
- Description of available research facilities, equipment, and resources
- Budget showing resources dedicated to the project and explicit indication of Fellowship fund use (no funds for overhead or indirect institution expenses)
- Background information / resume for both the faculty advisor(s) and the student
- This is a graduate-level (M.S. or Ph.D.) research fellowship, not a traditional essay scholarship; the award is $20,000
- Post-award: paper on completed research must be submitted within 24 months
- ASNT membership is not required.
- Recipients must submit a paper on completed research within 24 months.
