About this scholarship
ASME awards scholarships ranging from about $1,000 to $13,000 (the Kenneth Andrew Roe Scholarship is $13,000) to students pursuing mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology. One universal online application covers every ASME scholarship for which a student qualifies.
Eligible applicants include graduating high school seniors entering ABET-accredited ME/MET programs, community college and associate degree students, undergraduates at ABET-accredited four-year programs, and graduate students. Applicants must be full-time (part-time allowed at two-year programs, or within two semesters of graduation), and an ASME student membership is required to access the application system. Students must reapply each year.
The application typically opens in December; 2026 deadlines were February 13 for undergraduates, March 2 for graduate students, and March 15 for high school seniors. The 2026–27 cycle is closed.
