ASA Minority Fellowship Program

Predoctoral sociology Ph.D. students who identify as members of racial or ethnic minority groups underrepresented in sociology may apply. You must demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to sociological research on social issues, with intent to pursue a career in research, teaching, or applied sociology.

The fellowship provides a $20,000 stipend plus professional development support, travel and accommodations for two ASA Annual Meetings, and networking opportunities.

Submit the online application with transcripts, a CV, letters of recommendation, and a statement on research interests and professional goals. Founded in 1974, the program has supported more than 500 fellows.
