Queen's University students entering the first-year Smith Engineering program may apply for the Arthur and James McLaren Memorial Entrance Award.

The admission bursary amount varies. Selection is based on financial need and academic excellence.

Established in 2001 by Thomas McLaren (B.Com. 1949) in memory of his father, Arthur McLaren (B.Sc. Civil Eng. 1911), and his brother, James McLaren (B.Sc. Mining Eng. 1939).
