About this scholarship

Arkansas high school graduates with at least a 2.5 GPA who demonstrate musical talent and plan to pursue a music degree may apply.

The scholarship pays $1,500 in the first year, with additional installments in later years for a multiyear award. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA and attend the annual scholarship benefit to receive payment.

Submit application materials by March 31. The award honors Art Porter Sr. and Art Porter Jr. and supports musically talented Arkansas students committed to sharing their talent.

  • Two reference letters (from music teacher, counselor, principal, or personal reference) addressing musical ability, academics, and character
  • High school transcript through 7 semesters
  • Video performance link, 4 minutes maximum, demonstrating musical ability (per ASBOA, ArkCDA, or National Guild standards)
  • Proof of college/university registration for fall semester
  • Commitment to serve Arkansas for at least one year after college graduation
  • Application deadline: March 31st annually
  • Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA and attend the annual scholarship benefit to receive payment.
  • Recipients commit to serve Arkansas for at least one year after college graduation.
