About this scholarship
Early-career professionals with a conferred MPH, DrPH, or PhD in public health from an APHA partner university may apply for this year-long Community Health Fellowship. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required, and preference goes to applicants with public health or healthcare experience, leadership involvement, and backgrounds from underrepresented or historically marginalized communities.
Fellows receive a $120,000 stipend as independent contractors, plus APHA membership, monthly virtual leadership sessions, career coaching, and an APHA Annual Meeting travel stipend. The fellowship runs September to September, with a one-week virtual orientation and full-time placement at a Kaiser Permanente or partner site focused on policy, evaluation, Medi-Cal, community health, or related work.
Apply online with a resume, personal statements, transcripts, and supporting documents. Semi-finalists interview virtually with APHA and Kaiser Permanente; finalists then interview with placement sites.
