Anona Thorne and Takao Tanabe Graduate Entrance Scholarship in Statistics

For outstanding students entering a graduate program in Statistics at UBC.

Entrance scholarships are offered annually; the listed amount varies. Applicants are automatically considered upon applying to the program. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Statistics in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Anona Thorne (BA 1991 Math; MSc 1993 Stats), a double UBC alumna who worked with the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network, and her husband Takao Tanabe, a Canadian painter, established the award.
