Annual Sphinx Competition

Black and Latino string musicians (violin, viola, cello, or double bass) residing in the U.S. may apply for the Junior Division (ages 17 and under) or Senior Division (ages 18 to 30).

Senior Division first place receives $50,000 plus concert engagements; additional prizes are awarded in both divisions. Semi-finalists and finalists perform with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra in Detroit.

Apply through the Acceptd portal by October 20, including performance videos and supporting documents. Memorization is required for live rounds after the preliminary stage.
