About this scholarship
Registered graduate students pursuing an M.S., M.B.A., or doctoral degree with a research thesis in operations research, engineering systems, data analysis, advanced analytics, air transportation, or management science may apply for the Anna Valicek Award. Applicants must be the major contributor of the paper and must not have submitted the same paper in a prior Anna Valicek competition.
Two finalists present at the AGIFORS Symposium with travel and fees sponsored. The winner receives the Silver medal and $2,500; the other finalist receives the Bronze medal and $1,000. Selection weighs originality, practical airline applicability, methods, and clarity of exposition.
The award honors Anna Valicek, a longtime AGIFORS council member, and recognizes innovative operations research applied to airline problems.
