Angelica Camata Memorial Scholarship in Opera

Outstanding first-year Bachelor of Music students majoring in opera at the UBC Vancouver School of Music may be nominated.

Scholarships totaling $5,000 are available annually through a gift from Craig T. Wilson in memory of his grandmother, Angelica Marguerita Camata (nee Brunoro). Per-recipient amounts are not fixed. Recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the School of Music. There is no separate student application.

Angelica Camata (1887-1970) immigrated to Canada from northern Italy in 1913 and loved opera so deeply that she could identify any Verdi or Puccini aria after hearing only three notes.
