About this scholarship
High school seniors from groups underrepresented in the atmospheric sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students, may apply if they plan to study atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Marine biology does not qualify.
The scholarship provides $3,000 per year for two years if the first year is completed successfully. Applicants may also apply to the AMS Freshman Scholarship but may accept only one award if selected for both.
U.S. citizens or permanent residents entering college in the fall should submit the AMS application with required transcripts and recommendations.
